The Voltmeter is the RedPower 2 equivalent of the EU-Reader from IndustrialCraft 2, as when it is used to right-click a RedPower power generator, a Jacketed Bluewire or a Blue Alloy Wire, it will output the amount of current being generated or flowing through the wire, respectively. The Voltmeter does not function on IndustrialCraft Cables, just as the EU-Reader does not function on Blulectric items or cables.
Blutricity is measured in two ways: voltage and amperes. The voltage is the size of the packets going down the line (just as EU is measured in packet size; for example, Ultra-Low-Current Cable can take a potentially infinite quantity of energy packets, but each of those energy packets must have less than 8 EU) whereas the amperes are the quantity of packets flowing down the line. Thus, the total amount of power flowing down a Blue Alloy Wire or a 10kV Wire can be ascertained by multiplying the amperage value by the voltage value to know the total quantity of average volts flowing down the line per tick. This number is shown as the watts (W) on the Voltmeter's output.
