The Sickle is a tool added by RedPower 2. As its name suggests, it can be used for convenient harvesting of crops, such as Wheat or Potatoes. It also can be used to quickly remove leaves from trees, as well as tall grass and some types of flowers.

It harvests crops in an area of 5x5 blocks, and destroys leaves within a cube of 3x3x3 blocks. If the top block of a fully grown Flax plant is clicked, only the top row of blocks is harvested, leaving the lower portion. This allows the crop to grow to full height faster. It should be noted that, while pumpkin/melon blocks cannot be harvested with the sickle, the stems themselves can. All drops behave as if they were broken by hand, meaning leaves drop saplings, apples, etc.

Currently, the sickle is compatible with Flax, Vanilla crops, RP2 leaves, and Vanilla leaves. It may not be compatible with leaves from certain mods, so you should test it before use. It is not compatible with leaves from Forestry trees bred by tree breeding. The trees give neither saplings nor cherries/walnut/chestnut/...

Durability

Unlike most tools, each use is counted by the actual use, and not by the amount of blocks affected. Due to this, it would be efficient to break as many blocks at a time as possible, since smaller block amounts don't count for any less.

Along with Vanilla tools, sickles have 8 versions, and 6 tiers. Sapphire, Green Sapphire, and Ruby Sickles have the same stats, besides the recipe and look.

The chart below shows the differences between the different tiers. The Sapphire, Green Sapphire, and Ruby versions are in the same group, referred to as "Gem".
