The Plasma Generator is a machine added by GregTech as part of the overhaul of the Fusion Reactor system. While not a part of the Fusion Reactor Multiblock, it still remains an integral part of the system as it is currently the only way to convert the Helium Plasma outputted by the reactor into usable power. It converts the Helium Plasma into EU power at a rate of 2048 EU/tick, and each bucket's or cell's worth contains 8,192,000 EU.
Plasma can be put into a Plasma Generator as a liquid, either through a Liquiduct, Liquid Tesseract, or Waterproofed BuildCraft Pipes. It is also possible to supply Helium Plasma Cells for the generator to use. It is important to note that the Plasma Generator does return the empty cells in an output slot in its GUI. If its output slot fills to 64 empty cells, it will no longer keep filling itself from these cells, and will eventually cease functioning as its internal the cells are not emptied. A full stack of plasma cells will last about 3 and a half hours when the generator is working at full capacity.
In addition to 10000mb of fuel storage, the Plasma Generator also maintains a potential internal storage of 1 Billion EU. This energy storage is for the most part superfluous. Rather, the Plasma Generator only generates power (and expends Helium Plasma) to meet the demands of machines requesting power on the connected energy network. This conserves Plasma, which in turn, conserves power. This aspect of the changed system has the potential to allow the system to be more versatile and useful to more people.
If one is wanting to get the max EU out constantly from their Fusion Reactor setup, it appears the maximum number of Plasma Generators that can properly be run continuously, simultaneously, and with full energy output, from plasma from only one reactor is set at the number 33. This makes the new Fusion Reactor Multiblock System's maximum potential continuous EU output at 67584 EU/tick.
