The Advanced Regulator is capable of doing what the Advanced Buffer does, but with 8 additional target slots and specific sorting for each targeted slot. This device is capable of saving you the materials and the space needed for 8 additional machines inside your Factory if used properly. As of MC1.5.1, the Advanced Regulator has internal item filters, enabling you to use Sorter -> Large Buffer -> Regulator -> Machine without getting cluttered up.

For most targeted inventories, the slot number is determined left-to-right starting from zero.
