The Assembling Machine is a Machine added by GregTech which grew out of an idea for a machine providing alternative, cheaper recipes for things such as Electronic Circuits, Advanced Circuits, and other electronic components.

It also has replaced some of the previous GregTech component recipes to only be accesssible from the Assembling Machine, thus making it a machine that it is recommended to create immediately after creating the basic IndustrialCraft 2 set. This recommendation is shared with the simultaneously introduced Plate Bending Machine, which also changes many basic recipes to require plates when previously they used Ingots.

Usage

While it still fulfills the original function, it has grown to encompass some further features and changes to the way that certain things in GregTech are created. It has become a necessary device for accessing some recipes in GregTech, as ordinary recipes for a couple of components have been removed, most notably the Data Control Circuit and the Data Orb.

The Assembling Machine can also make vanilla recipes, such as torches. Without upgrades it takes 80s, so if you want you can make a factory using assembling machines instead of Autocrafting tables.

The Assembling Machine is also the only way to craft the new Portable Scanner tool. In addition, it is also the only way to craft the new GregTech-specific upgrades: the HV-Transformer Upgrade, the Lithium Battery Upgrade, the Pneumatic Generator Upgrade, and the RS-Energy-Cell Upgrade

At its base state without upgrades it requires EU to function, and its maximum input is 32EU/p; if supplied more it will explode. All available upgrades, however, may be applied to this machine, so like most GregTech machines under this new order, it's entirely possible to change many of the machine's behaviors. You could make it run it off of MJ, you could overclock it to make it run faster, you could add further energy storage to the machine itself in either EU or MJ, and you could also allow it to use a voltages as high as 8192 EU/p.

The GUI Buttons-- The left button with a blue lightning-bolt icon is a button that, when activated, allows for the machine to transfer power to other adjacent machines which need it once it has used all the power it needs from the packets it receives. The middle button with an orange and black icon is a button that, when activated, makes it so that all products of whatever operation the machine is currently carrying out be deposited into an inventory on the back face of the machine. This button will not make the machine eject items onto the ground or into Pneumatic Tubes or into Pipes of any sort.

The right button controls whether the two input slots are connected or not. When the inputs are not connected, the following setup occurs:

Left & right sides - first input

Top & bottom sides - second input

back - output

While combining the two slots makes it easier to automate, when the machine is running multiple recipes, or using an unstackable item like lapotron crystals, the separated input mode is needed.

Compatibility

Buildcraft pipes may input into the top only.
