The Black Hole Band gathers nearby dropped entities when activated. Press G to activate, and the pull of a localized black hole will bring items in from a relatively short distance (about 7 blocks away) towards the player and into the player's inventory (like experience orbs). The Black Hole Band requires no EMC to use.
Adding the Black Hole Band to an Alchemical Chest or an Alchemy Bag will cause it to draw in items from the same range as it normally would for a player and suck them into the chest making it useful for automatic farming. Since it sucks items into an Alchemy Bag for you, it can be put in an Alchemy Bag with a fully charged Gem of Eternal Density to make a nearly infinite inventory with greatly reduced inventory management. A Void Ring has the combined effects of the two items.
It can also be used for cleaning up messy spills! Right-clicking on liquid blocks with this item in-hand will cause them to be sucked into oblivion and never seen again, similar to the Volcanite Amulet's ability.

Trivia
- When attempting to collect more items than the inventory can hold, the ring will cause the excess items to spin around the player in a way similar to orbiting planets. It is unclear whether this is a bug or intentional as a way of preventing item loss.
Bugs
- There is a bug on SMP where if you have the black hole band in an alchemy bag, and drop an item, then you may get double/triple/quadruple the amount in your alchemy bag. This means you can easily dupe your items. This doesn't work in SSP.
