Inventory Manager
Name Inventory Manager
Type Block
Stackable Yes (64)
Data Value 702:46
Mod Included GregTech

The Inventory Manager is a complicated GregTech machine that, as the name states, allows for the managing of adjacent inventories. At any given time, an Inventory Manager can manage four different adjacent inventories. The inventories to be managed can be configured by pressing the buttons on the bottom row which have letters on them. These change the color of the columns, which correspond to the colors on the faces of the Manager and to a specific cardinal direction. Blue equals North, Cyan South, Yellow West, Magenta East, Green upwards and Red downwards.

The columns may then be equipped with items that will be either extracted from the inventory when they are present or that will be inserted into the inventory when the items are received via an item transport system, f.e. Pipes from Buildcraft 3. These columns use "holo-slots" as with a Diamond Transport Pipe, such that an item must be present to define the column but the item does not remain in the inventory when clicked into the slot. Up to three items may be "managed" in any given inventory. Configuration of how this managing functions may be achieved by pressing the buttons adjacent to the item slot in the Manager.

Left-clicking the button will change which side of the adjacent inventory to input/extract the items from (f.e., choosing N next to an item slot with some Glass Fibre Cable will cause Glass Fibre Cable to be either inserted into whatever item slot items end up in when inserted into the North face of the machine or extracted from said slot) and right-clicking it will toggle between input and output mode.

In addition, as with a Diamond Transport Pipe, inserting no items into a given column will allow the Manager to extract any and all items that end up in the machine or input items of any type from the Manager into the machine. If a specific amount of items is set in the Manager, items will only be extracted/inserted when that specific quantity is present. The quantity of an item can be set by clicking with the mouse, where right-click increases it by one (removing the item entirely if quantity is one) and left-click decreases it by one. Holding shift while doing this will change the amount incremented to eight. Quantity of any item cannot exceed 64.

Left-clicking the lightning-bolt button below a given column will cause leftover power that the Manager does not use to be sent to the machine in question. To operate, the Manager requires power and can accept voltages of up to 128 EU/p. It does not use the entirety of this power and will transform excess power to a voltage of 32 EU/p and send it on to other machines which it is connected to if applicable.

The Manager also has three internal buffer slots for the storage of items, shown on the far right-hand side of the Manager's GUI and adorned with a logo which appears to be that of a Chest.

The Manager can accept items from Buildcraft Pipes, but will not output items into Buildcraft Pipes, even if specified in its GUI.

Recipe

In the above recipe, Energy Crystals can be replaced by Lithium Batteries.

Known Bugs

Anomalies:

  • When placing an item into the "holo-slots" of a Manager, if right-click is used instead of left-click, an item with the same ID but a meta-data value of -1 (negative one) will appear in the slot, causing the wrong item to appear in many instances. This can also break the transfer of some items that use the meta-data value for durability; however, this may be an intended feature, as some not-yet-used tools have an ID of negative one. This can also be a universal ID, such that all types of items with the same data value but a different meta-data will be accepted (e.g. all Template:IC2 items,) useful for sorting specific items or block types by category in an item storage system.
