The handsaw is part of the [[RedPower 2]] mod and it is used to make [[Micro Blocks]]. Micro Blocks are blocks that have been chopped up to make things like slabs, panels, covers, and strips. Different varieties of Handsaws have different durabilities. Different Handsaws also have different capabilities. For instance, a Diamond Handsaw is required to cut Obsidian and [[Silicon Boule]]s. The Iron Handsaw is the least durable and can cut the least blocks, whereas the Diamond Handsaw is the most durable and can turn any block that can be turned into Micro Blocks.
There are hollow versions of slabs, panels, covers,etc. To make them, cut your desired block into cover blocks (or whatever thickness you prefer) and arrange the microblocks in a chest format. To put wires through a hollow block hold down ctrl and f while placing the wire through it. (This seems to work only with redpower wires; unconfirmed).
Currently, in version 3.1.3, hollow blocks appear to be broken and unable to be made.
